What to Look for in Free Online Learning Games

Whether you are homeschooling your child or you are just looking for a way to supplement his education, you need to find the best online tools possible. When you can find those tools for free, you will be able to enjoy their benefits even more. With free online learning games, you will be able to provide your children with the fun games they desire that will teach them what they need to know in life. However, finding free games can sometimes be difficult.

Variety

When you look at websites that offer online games, especially those that are free, you need to look at the variety of games they provide. Even if your child has fun playing a game online, he will quickly grow bored if he has to play the same one repeatedly. To ensure this doesn’t happen, you want to find a website that will provide you with many games to choose from so your child doesn’t become bored. Many free sites only offer a couple of games for free, further complicating matters.

Skill Levels

Another important factor to find free online learning games for your child is the skill levels they offer. If your child is only in kindergarten or first grade, you won’t get much use out of a site that focuses on children in middle school. Pay attention to the skill levels and make sure your child will be able to advance as he learns the material. Offering multiple skill levels will keep your child motivated and challenged enough to keep things interesting.

Subjects

If your child is struggling in a particular area, it is important to make sure the website you use offers games in the area your child needs help with. Some free sites severely limit the games you will have access to. These sites may not allow you to access all the subjects, leaving you to find multiple sites to use. Instead, you want to find one that will grant you access to all subjects so your child has one place to go for fun and learning.

As you consider the free online learning games available, you need to make sure you choose a website that has what your child needs. This includes offering the subjects with which your child needs help, as well as a variety of skill levels, so your child can get just what he needs. The ability to advance is often motivation to keep trying. In addition, finding a free website that provides a wide variety of games is sure to keep your child engaged for a long time.

Flying The Skies With Flight Simulation Games

I’ve never taken flight lessons. I’ll never become a real pilot. Yet from the comfort of my couch, I’m able to fly through the blue skies, pulling up the throttle and making loops. Flight simulation games are a great way to learn to fly a plane, whether you are doing it for sheer enjoyment or because it’s something that you’re looking at doing for a living.

Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo all manufacture flight simulation games. Some even have special controllers, just like the steering wheels for racing games. It’s a very realistic feel, especially when there’s a large scale television to stare into, allowing me more room to soar through the sky and learn to stick my landing. Many of the games allow me to choose the kind of plane that I want to pilot for the day. I’ll be able to fly WWII fighter jets, Cessnas, floatplanes, and even an Airbus.

Some of the games allow a better feel of actually piloting a plane whereas others focus on simply flying. I prefer the ones where I can feel like I’m sitting in the cockpit with full access of the controls.

No matter the plane, I’ll be able to pick from a variety of backgrounds and scenarios to fly into. I can fly over Germany, France, New York or simply a blue sky. I can fly in rain or shine, or into enemy fire. There’s a flight simulation game for everyone. I like to change it up a little bit. I can take my aggression out on the Germans in a WWII simulation game and tease my flights of fantasy by flying into outer space and checking out other galaxies.

Flight simulation games have gained in popularity. They were originally designed for flight schools to allow students to learn the basics in flight before going up in a real plane where the ability to crash was a lot more real. As a result of flight schools wanting to make a strong learning platform, I’ve got a great game to play whenever I want. And best of all, I don’t have to pay for jet fuel!

There are a variety of flight simulation games on the market, all allowing me to play a little different. I can fly for the sake of flying. I can learn how to do barrel rolls and other aerobatics. Or I can fly combat style, shooting enemy planes while maneuvering my plane through open fire. All of these are great ways of entertaining myself, but it may provide for a practical application one day. You never know – I could be on a plane and the pilot may be injured. With my expertise on the video game console, I may be able to pilot a real plane in a crisis situation!

Get Online With a Flight Simulator Game

Almost everyone has a game that they enjoy playing. Before video games, many people played board games like Monopoly or Life. Beginning with the development of arcade video games in the 1970’s, there have been unbelievable improvements, including huge advances with the flight simulator game.

Early flight simulation was used for military purposes and didn’t become popular with the general public until the 1970s when programs like Airfight were developed as an educational flight simulator game. You were able to choose a military jet loaded with fuel and weapons and shoot down other player’s aircraft.

Soon arcade games became popular such as Pong and Pac Man, but they were rather inferior to the games of today, as were the flight simulation games. At the time, though, they seemed highly advanced and they created the baseline for future games.

Finally, in the early 1980’s, video game consoles started to gain popularity and games like Donkey Kong and Zelda were big hits. Other games were created that ushered in the modern style of 3D graphics, but most visual effects still looked pretty 2D and movement was not very natural.

The games consoles were soon followed by gaming computers with sounds cards. Game controllers and joysticks began to be sold with the systems to allow for more realistic action. As computer graphics continued to improve, the flight simulator game manufacturers were able to replicate the detailing of both the inside and outside of the various planes that were available.

Soon there were developments in the ability to provide a distant focus point for the pilot of the flight simulator game. With the use of a curved mirror and wide angle display equipment, a distant focal point representing the horizon made the view much more life like.

One issue that was resolved soon after was the fact that most computers didn’t have enough memory to allow the movement of objects to flow smoothly. The improvements in graphics forced computer companies to find a way to increase the computing power. The increase of band width offered by internet providers helped to avoid the jerky motion with video delivery.

As video gaming has become more and more popular, controllers have been added to give more realism. Joysticks, yokes and rudder pedals offered a whole new challenge to the flight simulator game, but it also made it much more enjoyable. The good thing is that you can still just use your computer keyboard to play a game too, if you can’t afford to buy other controllers.

Online play opened up a new way to hook up with other pilots playing the same game, and fly in formation. It also allows you to update software and add new downloads more quickly and easily.

With technology constantly changing, the realism of the flight simulator game will no doubt keep improving along with it. Soon, you will not be able to tell the difference between what is virtual reality and what is real.
